Football: Kadioglu joins Jong Orange

12.33 hrs: Young Orange finishes the EC qualification without Ferdi Kadioglu. The attacking midfielder of Fenerbahรงe has too much injury to go to Portugal for the last group match in the EC qualification. Federal coach Erwin van de Looi does not call for a replacement for 21-year-old Kadioglu and therefore travels to Portugal with 21 players. Kadioglu stayed on Sunday in Almere against Young Belarus (5-0).

Last month Jong Oranje assured himself of participating in next years European Championships in Hungary and Slovenia. The team of Van de Looi managed to win all nine group matches and has a goal balance of 45-3. Young Portugal has 3 points less than the Dutch promises.

Previously Dani de Wit, Tyrell Malacia (injuries) and Abdou Harroui (positive corontest) left Jong Oranje. Ryan Gravenberch and Sven Botman moved last week from the selection of Van de Looi to the big Orange.

Football: Three players from Eredivisie called for new Norwegian team

11.54 a.m.: Spits Jรธrgen Strand Larsen of FC Groningen and midfielders Sondre Tronstad (Vitesse) and Hakon Evjen (AZ) have been called for Norways national football team. The three players from the top league will be able to make their debut in the National League against Austria on Wednesday. The Norwegian Federation has compiled a completely new selection for that duel in Vienna, following a corona infection in the group initially composed by national coach Lars Lagerbรคck.

The Norwegians were supposed to play football against Romania on Sunday in Bucharest, but the day earlier they were told by the Ministry of Health to quarantine after a positive test by international Omar Elabdellaoui. The Nations League with the Romanians did not continue and is presumably transformed into a regulatory 3.0 defeat for Norway, which is in full race for promotion to the A-Division.

Under the leadership of Leif Gunnar Smerud, normally the national coach of Young Norway, the Norwegians will play against Austria. With a profit in Vienna, the country can still reach the A-Division. โ€œIt was a tough task, but we are glad that the race can continue. Not only for sporting reasons, but also for fulfilling our obligations towards UEFA,โ€ said the League.

Smerud has called the 20-year-old youth internationals Strand Larsen and Evjen, among others. The 25-year-old Tronstad is also allowed to report to the national team for the first time.

AZ midfielder Fredrik Midchรธ belonged to the Norwegian selection which is now in quarantine. His countryman and club mate Jonas Svensson reported injured for the national team last week.

Tennis: โ€œTennis Bubbleโ€ for Australian Open in state of Victoria still uncertain

10.24 hours: The Australian Tennis Associations plan to move the preparation tournaments for the Australian Open to the state of Victoria, has not yet been approved by the authorities. Prime Minister Daniel Andrews warned that fighting the coronavirus is a higher priority than creating a tennis bubble in the state where the city of Melbourne is located.

โ€œ The Australian Open is definitely an important event, but avoiding a third wave of infection is perhaps even more important,โ€ said Victoria Prime Minister.

The Australian Tennis Association unfolded Monday the plan to move the tennis tournaments of Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Hobart, Adelaide and Canberra all to Victoria. In this way, the tennis players can avoid the tightened travel restrictions and play the warm-up tournaments in the same state. The players travelling to Australia first go into quarantine for a period and then can move freely in Victoria. โ€œThis gives us a guarantee that the Australian Open can continue,โ€ said Director Craig Tiley.

But state premier Andrews tempered the enthusiasm for the tennis bubble. โ€œIts not a foregone case yet. Its a huge logistics company with complicated quarantine arrangements. I think we can keep the Australian Open going, but it will look very different,โ€ said the Prime Minister, whose state has only recently come out of a lockdown.

The Australian Open are scheduled from 18 to 31 January. The preparation tournaments are in the weeks before. Tennis Australia in its plan for the bubble assumes that about 500 foreign tennis players will be quarantined for two weeks upon arrival in Victoria. They must stay in their hotel, but have access to a tennis court. Coronates are part of protocol.

Football: Coronavirus hits South Korean football team in Vienna

09.13 a.m.: South Koreas national football team was hit by the coronavirus during the practice trip in Austria. Six players have been tested positive. The whole team quarantined at their hotel rooms in Vienna, reported team officials.

South Korea played against Mexico last Saturday without the six infected players and lost by 3-2, while Sterp player Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur was among the negative tested players and participated.

A practice duel with Qatar is scheduled for Tuesday. That match can continue if, according to the rules of FIFA, thirteen players who are not infected are available. The selection will undergo a new test round on Monday.

The six players infected with the virus are Kwon Chang-hoon, Lee Dong-jun, Hwang In-beom, Na Sang-ho, Kim Moon-hwan and keeper Jo Hyeon-woo.

Football: Norway does send football team to Austria

08.40 a.m.: Norway plays the match in the Nations League in Vienna against Austria on Wednesday. The Norwegian Football Association sends a new selection which will be led by the national coach of Young Norway, Leif Gunnar Smerud. That team will be presented on Monday.

The Norwegians did not play their planned competition against Romania on Sunday. The Norwegian government forbade the football players from flying to Bucharest. The selection of national coach Lars Lagerbรคck had to be quarantined by the Ministry of Health after a positive corontest by international Omar Elabdellaoui.

Footballers were already ready for departure at Oslo airport when the announcement came in. Presumably, the duel will be transformed into a regulatory 3-0 defeat for the Norwegians, who are in full race for promotion to the A-Division of the Nations League. Even with that defeat, Norway can win the pool.

โ€œ It was a tough task, but we are glad that the race can continue. Not only for sporting reasons, but also for fulfilling our obligations towards UEFA,โ€ said a statement by the Union.

The temporary coach Smerud sounded combative. โ€œI look forward to meeting the players who, in this chaotic situation, are willing to help the national team. It is now about preparing and performing well against Austria.โ€

Football: The Bruyne already talks about a longer stay at Manchester City

07.35 a.m.: Kevin De Bruyne talks with Manchester City for a longer stay at the club. This is what the Belgian international said at the Flemish TV channel VTM. He has played for the Premier League club since 2015 and has won two titles with City.

The 29-year-old midfielder does the negotiations himself. โ€œIn this situation, I can, because I would like to stay with City. If I wanted to leave City and the club wouldnt want to, its a situation where you need someone to mediate,โ€ says De Bruyne, who still has a contract until mid-2023.

โ€œI still have a contract for 2.5 years. Were talking a little bit at the moment, but were not far in the talks yet. There will be no difficulty in the negotiations, and that applies to both sides. Because thats not how we are.โ€
