Tired’ Feyenoord loses to Hamburger SV in Austria

Manuel Wintzheimer made in the 52nd minute the winning goal for the German second divisionist. Feyenoord captain Steven Berghuis was in the base for the first time after a period of absence due to a respiratory infection.

‘Spicy week’

Feyenoord experienced an intensive training camp in Germany and Austria, including four matches in seven days. “It has been a very positive week, in which we have trained hard. We also have Steven Berghuis and Ridgeciano Haps back, who are very important in this team,” said Feyenoord coach Dick Advocaat on the website of the Rotterdammers.

“Some players weren’t quite fresh today, they said. That’s not so strange, this was our fourth game in seven days and we trained hard yesterday. Then you can lose once.”

Exercise campaign

Earlier at the Kufstein tournament Feyenoord drew against Arminia Bielefeld (0-0). Before that the Rotterdammers won at a practice tournament in Duisburg from Borussia Dortmund (3-1) and MSV Duisburg (2-1). The formation of Advocaat also defeated Sparta (3-0) in the preparation and played a draw against FC Twente (0-0).

At the end of last month we spoke to Steven Berghuis, the injured captain of the Rotterdammers, who finished the first training of the new season without him.
