In the docuseries That One Word, Jens Toornstra gives more clarity on the salary that the Feyenoord selection had to deliver last season. The players were eventually obliged to give up part of their wages.
Due to the corona crisis, pay sacrifices were made at virtually all Eredivision clubs. Also at Feyenoord, but it became clear earlier that this did not happen voluntarily. Toornstra tells more about it. “Theyve been in the dressing room with a proposal once,” begins the current Feyenoord captain in front of Disney +s camera. “We collectively said no to that proposal, without saying that we didnt want to turn in at all.”
“On that specific proposal, we said no, so that we were at the same height in the dressing room with each other,” Toornstra continues. “Then they said via email that they were disappointed in our response. After that, we were kind of informed that they would withhold salary,” concludes the midfielder.
