Top 2000 starts, again without an audience

NPO Radio 2 started the Top 2000, the list of best songs of all time according to the listeners of the station. The Top 2000 will be broadcast from Sound and Vision in Hilversum.

The list of lists can be heard until midnight on New Year‘s Eve. Just like last year, the program is without an audience.

The Top 2000 was opened by musician and DJ Bart Arens, with a mash-up of well-known songs from the list:

There was kicked off just after midnight with Promises Of A No Man’s Land by Blaudzun, which is right in 2000 place. For the followers of the Top 2000, it‘s no surprise that Queen is back at 1 with Bohemian Rhapsody. Last year, Danny Vera’s Roller Coaster ranked number 1 and Queen was driven to second place for the first time in years.

Surprising is number three: Procol Harum with A Whiter Shade of Pale. A lot of people voted for that song before-that was the favorite song by Peter R. de Vries.

This year, the highest listed songs of Dutch made are Roller Coaster by Danny Vera (place 2), Radar Love by Golden Earring (place 6), Avond van Boudewijn de Groot (place 10) and Soldier On by Di-Rect (place 14).

Golden Earring has not been in the top 10 of the Top 2000 before, and the fact that the band announced that it was stopping this year due to George Kooymans disease.
