‘Tottenham has a bit: not Ten Hag, but Fonseca new coach’

Tottenham Hotspur has a bit in the search for a new manager. The Premier League top club is in far-reaching negotiations with Paulo Fonseca, report Gianluca Di Marzio and Fabrizio Romano.
According to the Italian transfer experts, Fonseca is really into working in London. Both parties agree on a three-year contract. Fabio Paratici, who will become the new technical director, is also behind his arrival.
Tottenham put José Mourinho on the street in April, after which Ryan Mason finished the season. A successor turned out not just found. Hansi Flick (German national team), Julian Nagelsmann (Bayern Munich) and Mauricio Pochettino (Paris Saint-Germain) were not feasible and negotiations with Antonio Conte were broken.
Among other things, the name of Ajax trainer Erik ten Hag sang around in English media again, but Tottenham‘s choice has now fallen on Fonseca. The 48-year-old Portuguese recently left AS Roma, where his contract was not renewed and where Mourinho is his successor. He previously worked for FC Porto, Sporting Braga and Shakhtar Donetsk.
Fonseca has been at the helm of Roma since 2019, reaching the semifinals of the Europa League last season by eliminating Ajax. It wasn’
t enough to save his job at Stadio Olimpico, partly due to a disappointing seventh place in Serie A.
