Tour boss Christian Prudhomme will be active again in the caravan of the Tour de France from Tuesday. According to the organisation he tested negative for the corona virus. As a result, he will once again be able to exercise his leading role in the Tour de France.
Prudhomme tested positive for the lung virus last week. That caused quite a commotion after the first rest day. The race director went into quarantine at home and announced his return after the second rest day, on this Monday, provided his test was negative. He was replaced last week by François Lemarchand.
Last week all riders in the peloton of the Tour tested negative. The virus was found in four staff members of four different teams. They had to leave the Tour immediately.
All riders and staff members of the 22 teams underwent another coronation test on the second rest day. In two positive cases with riders or staff members of one team, the team has to leave the Tour. Class-leader Primoz Roglic already told in an interview on Monday that everyone in his team had tested Jumbo-Visma negative.
The organisation of the Tour will announce the test results of riders, staff members and officials on Tuesday morning.
