The Tour of Flanders is due to the coronacrisis on 4 April again without an audience.
The governor Carina Van Cauter confirmed during a press conference in Ninove that the 105th edition of the Belgian cycling classic will take place ‘behind closed doors’ as well as last year.
Omloop Het Nieuwsblad (27 February) and Nokere-Koerse (17 March) should also be without fans in Flanders.
Also Omloop Het Nieuwsblad (27 February) and Nokere-Koerse (17 March), who also walk across East Flemish territory, have to do without fans.
“ Last year the many cycling fans proved that the race can be organized perfectly coronaproof. During the Tour of Flanders of 2020 there were almost no violations. Today the cycling calendar has recovered, partly due to the good behavior of the supporters, but unfortunately the virus is not gone yet. The course will therefore have to be organized and polite again”, says the East Flemish governor Carina Van Cauter.
