Train traffic between Roermond and Weert was resumed. ProRail repaired the track and catenary after yesterday afternoon an intercity collided with a stationary lorry at a level crossing in Roermond.
The overhead line and the transition were severely damaged, according to a ProRail spokesman at 1Limburg. There also appeared to be a kink in the track.
The cause of the accident is still unclear. The accident occurred yesterday afternoon around 17.00 hours at a secure level crossing. Two occupants of the train were slightly injured. They were treated for neck complaints by ambulance personnel. A woman was finally transferred to the hospital, just to be sure.
The driver of the lorry was not arrested, but was heard by the police.
