FC Twente goalkeeper Joël Drommel is in the serious interest of PSV, while Ajax is also lurking for FC Twente‘s goalkeeper. René Hake, trainer of FC Utrecht, is not surprised by the rumors.
Hake made Drommel debut with Twente six years ago in the Eredivisie. The step towards PSV would now be ‘very logical‘, says Hake in conversation with the Algemeen Dagblad. “Joël shows weekly that he is in need of a higher level. And from FC Twente only a few clubs are an improvement in the Netherlands. And those are the top clubs.”
“Everyone sees that Joël is good at playing football, that he has an eye for how to position himself. But he has more specific qualities. Joël has flair and, although he is a sober and normal guy as a person, radiates a lot of self-confidence.”
Hake thinks Drommel can compete with Yvon Mvogo, PSV’s first goalkeeper. “Besides the aforementioned qualities, Joël is also a fighter”, says the Utrecht trainer. “I noticed that at FC Twente, after passing him again after a lesser period. He also came out stronger. So if Joël did go to PSV and initially lose the competition, he would also take that experience with him. What is certain for me: Joël can handle keepen in the top. Possibly already, but certainly in the future.”
