Trade unions CNV and FNV have reached agreement with employers in the transport and logistics sector on a new collective agreement. The actions for more wages and better working conditions are therefore out of the job.
The collective labour agreement covers more than 150,000 people. In the proposal, wages rise by 3.5% on 1 July. As of January 1, they will increase by 3.25 percent. “An excellent result”, says FNV board member Willem Dijkhuizen. “Members are going to vote on it now.”
Since March, action has been taken in various places in the country for a better collective agreement. The new collective agreement applies for the period from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2022.
Stove and air conditioning
The new employment contract also states that all truck cabins are given a heater and air conditioning. They should also work when the engine is off. According to the trade unions, this step is very important. “On hot days it is often hard for the drivers in the cabins,” says CNV negotiator Tjitze van Lijssel.
Furthermore, agreements have been made about stopping work earlier. According to the unions, employers will contribute to this, but a working group will work it out in detail. This arrangement shall take effect on 1 January 2022 and shall end on 1 January 2026.
