Giorgi Aburjania is leaving FC Twente. Spanish media report that his contract in Enschede has been dissolved, leaving the midfielder free to sign for Real Oviedo. There he will sign a multi-year contract.
Cadena COPE and El Comercio write that Aburjania is no longer under contract with FC Twente. This means that the Georgian international, which has a high non-EU salary, is off the payroll and the Tukkers have a little more room for manoeuvre financially. On Thursday the midfielder will arrive in Spain and undergo the medical examination at Real Oviedo in the Segunda División.
The Georgian played only one year for Twente. Ted van Leeuwen, the previous technical director in the Grolsch Veste, hired Aburjania from Seville. However, the midfielder could never live up to expectations and did not appear in the plans of trainer Gonzalo García. Because of the financial problems in Enschede caused by the coronavirus, Aburjanias departure was desirable.
