‘United has doubts about the contract situation De Gea and is already thinking about possible successor’

Manchester United is still unsure whether David de Geas contract will be renewed. The Spanish goalkeeper is stuck with The Red Devils until 2023 and earns a high salary at Old Trafford. At United, they would already have a successor in mind.
According to The Telegraph, the management is not convinced of De Gea. The club has the option to extend the contract until 2024. The closing post earns almost four tons a week and thus takes up a large part of United
s salary house. The English club recently announced that a net loss of 130 million euros had been suffered last season, which means cutting back. De Gea made several mistakes in the 4-0 loss game with Brentford FC, but in the following weeks, the Spaniard looked better.
United sees Jordan Pickford as a possible successor to De Gea, should the Spaniard leave. Normally, Pickford is the first choice for Englands national team, but the Everton FC goalkeeper is currently struggling with a thigh injury. Pickford has a contract with The Toffees until mid-2024, which means that several clubs are interested in the 28-year-old goalkeeper.
