Atlético Madrid sees the gap in the Primera División as snow disappear before the sun and will have to do it without top shooter Luis Suárez. The Uruguayan suffered a muscle injury during training.
Atlético reports this through the official channels. The club indicates that it is a ‘muscle injury in the left leg’, but does not make any further statements about the severity of the injury. ‘We are waiting for further developments’, the club website reads, without the club making any statements about the duration of Suárez‘s absence.
Suárez ran into the injury at the training and is the next line through the account of trainer Diego Simeone. The striker scored nineteen goals this season in La Liga. However, Atlético sees the gap getting smaller in the last few weeks. FC Barcelona has now approached to one point of Los Rojiblancos.
Update: Suárez seems to be back on the field soon. El Pistolero is planning to do so, he lets us know via Twitter. “Thank you for all your support. Now it’s a matter of recovering, to help the team back as soon as possible. I will never stop fighting!” The away game against Real Betis on Sunday evening comes too early, the next game is one week later, home against Eibar.
