Chad Wolf, the acting Secretary of Homeland Security of the United States, resigns. Wolf is therefore the last senior official in the US government to step up since the storming of the Capitol by a pack of heated supporters of President Donald Trump.
Last week, President Trump withdrew Wolf‘s nomination for full ministry. Wolf would have told his associates that he was leaving.
“ Unfortunately, this decision is forced by recent events,” writes Wolf in an internal memo. In it he also points to “useless court judgments about the validity of my authority as acting minister.” In this way, Wolf refers to a judicial judgment in which it was recently found that Wolf’s appointment process had been unlawfully.
