Tennis player Naomi Osaka has doubts about her participation in Roland Garros. The Japanese, who won her third Grand Slam title at the US Open on Saturday night, has the gravel tournament in Paris on her schedule.
“When I came here, the plan was to play Roland Garros as well. But I still have to check it out,” Osaka said after her victory in the finals in New York on Victoria Azarenka.
The 22-year-old Japanese never made it past the third round in Paris. Gravel is therefore not Osaka‘s favourite ground, who had hamstring problems in the run-up to the US Open and therefore signed out for the finals of the WTA tournament of Cincinnati. The title of that preparation tournament for the US Open went to Azarenka. Two weeks later, the two tennis players met in a final in New York, now with Osaka as the winner (1-6 6-3 6-3).
Roland Garros starts at the end of this month. “I haven’t had time to recover yet. It feels like I need a little break now,” said Osaka.
