Utrecht is more solid in third place

FC Utrecht has its back court six days after the 5-1 defeat at AZ and stays in the top of the Eredivisie. SC Heerenveen โ€” which tried without Henk Veerman for the occasion โ€” seemed to take a point from De Galgenwaard for a long time, but Sander van de Streek decided otherwise: 2-1 for the home team.
Rami Kaib and Ibrahim Dresevic had to come to the aid of goalkeeper Xavier Mous before rest, but Heerenveen made a fresh impression in Utrecht and proved to have resilience. Shortly after Moussa Syllah crowned Django Warmerdam‘s well-prepared work with the well-shot opening target, it was right again. Milan van Ewijk continued well on the right and gave for, Willem Janssen unhappily worked the ball in his own goal: 1-1.
Just before rest, Maarten Paes had to stretch after an effort by Arjen van der Heide. Significantly less happened in the second half, although Mark van der Maarel was still close to success with a very bold attempt.
In the final quarter, Henk Veerman came in the lines and came back to life. The storm ram was served by namesake Joey Veerman right after his raid, but failed to pass Paes. On the other side there was scored by another substitute: Hidde ter Avest took care of the preparatory work and Van de Streek gave FC Utrecht the three points.
It means that Renรฉ Hake and his men benefit from Willem II’
s loss of points against Fortuna Sittard and finish the weekend as number three of the Eredivisie anyway: FC Utrecht is allowed to watch the cracker between Ajax and PSV on Sunday in the armchair. Heerenveen remains eighth for the time being, but must fear his place in the left row.
