Van Bommel and Overmars fall off pink cloud: perfect Antwerp score ends

The perfect Royal Antwerp series has come to an end. When visiting KV Kortrijk, Mark van Bommel‘s team ran into the first loss of points of the season.
In the competition, Antwerp had a historic start to the season under Van Bommel. The team already won its first nine duels, but that good run came to an end on Sunday evening. With Calvin Stengs and Vincent Janssen in the base, things already went wrong against Kortrijk in the first half.
In the 21st minute, Lamkel Zรฉ was the basis of the first counter hit for Antwerp. The striker was regularly under fire during his time at The Great Old. Felipe Avenatti subsequently failed: 1-0.
Just before the break, Kortrijk also managed to double the margin. With a bit of luck, a checkered shot fell at the feet of Faรฏz Selemani, who then managed to score nicely. In the second half, Antwerp went on a hunt for the connection targets. The 2-1 still fell, because Vincent Janssen used a penalty kick during the injury time. However, it was not enough for a result.
As a result, Antwerp no longer has the perfect score in Belgium. Van Bommel and co. are still first in the competition, but pursuer KRC Genk now has only two points less. Because Antwerp has already been eliminated European, it can now fully focus on Friday’
s competition game with STVV.
