The Belgian stunt team Union Saint-Gilloise is in the Champions League playoffs with one leg. Scottish Rangers FC, where Giovanni van Bronckhorst is the manager, lost the first game 2-0 on Tuesday.
Union, the club that promoted two seasons ago and just didn‘t become Belgium champion last season, started the game with some nerves and had a hard time getting Rangers under pressure. That’s not surprising, because many of Union‘s players played a European match for the first time.
Nevertheless, after 27 minutes, Union’s first goal fell. Teddy Teuma was able to score and got Rangers in serious trouble. The Scots had no answer to the game of the Belgians and were powerless.

Union created chance after chance in the second half, but forgot to finish it. In the final phase, the home club received a cheap penalty kick as a gift after interference from the VAR. Dante Vanzeir took responsibility and shot into the 2-0 from eleven meters. The return in Scotland is in exactly one week.
