Van der Sar wants to continue with Ajax and does not rule out H2s longer stay

Ajax hopes to take more steps internationally in the coming years. This is what managing director Edwin van der Sar says, who does not rule out Gerry Hamstra and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar staying inboard longer.
Ajax is again participating structurally in the Champions League. Whether the tournament can also be won? โ€œWe are working very hard on that. We started making this move years ago. Four years ago, we were close,โ€ says Van der Sar at RTL7.
โ€œWe want to go even further. There will be a new Champions League format in 2024. We are doing a good job in the Netherlands and abroad is attracting. We want to join the big clubs. We have quadrupled the sale of merchandise, we break through internationally with shirts, our social media team is fantastic, the stadium is full, the business is running well. Lets see if we can put another ten percent on top of it,โ€ he continues.
Is that with Huntelaar and Hamstra? The duo took care of the football technical part last summer. โ€œKlaas-Jan and Gerry have been extremely busy. We
ve lost fourteen players, so weve been extremely busy. Can they stay? Yes, that is certainly an option. Weve been incredibly busy, so there hasnt been a real evaluation yet. After this week it calms down a bit and we look at it calmly. Klaas-Jan was hungry as a striker and is now. And Gerry is poked and collected, he is now taking the next step at Ajax.โ€
Van der Sar signed a new contract with Ajax this week. โ€œYou always have to see how you stand and see if you see challenges, but there are plenty of them. We helped Ajax up with many people. Now we have to take the next step. I
m having a good time in Amsterdam and thats great too. I live fantastic in Noordwijk and have fantastic people around me within the organization. The youth school is running, the purchases and the team are running, a new trainer.. Thats great to be part of that,โ€ says Van der Sar.
Still, not everything seems to be going well. During the transfer of Lucas Ocampos, the leadership of Ajax was called back by the Supervisory Board, which would also have stopped the transfer of Odysseas Vlachodimos. โ€œPut in front of the block? No, not for the bloc,โ€ says Van der Sar. โ€œThings always go into good consultation. Its not always the truth that comes out. A discussion is very healthy. We all know how to keep Ajax successful and make it more successful.โ€
