Heracles Almelo has blown off Silvester van der Water. The outsider trades the Almelans with immediate effect for Orlando City.
Van der Water came over from Almere City in 2018 and was already working on a departure to Florida for a long time. At the beginning of the season he ran the away match against Willem II because of transfer problems. However, the outsider remained, but after the turn of the year the interest from Orlando started again. So Heracles is cooperating now.
Technical director Tim Gilissen deliberately lifted the deal over the busy month of January, he tells the club site. “We deliberately waited for that period, given the number of matches and their importance. In addition, the American competition begins in April and their preparation starts this period. Also because we think we can accommodate the departure within the current selection, this is a logical moment for the transfer.”
Van der Water himself never made a secret that he wanted to make the switch and is now allowed to pursue his American Dream, after more than two years of Heracles. The wing attacker from Blaricum looks back on his Heracles period with great satisfaction. “I learned a lot at this club. Both physically and mentally, I have become stronger. I am therefore glad that Heracles Almelo has given me the opportunity to develop myself here.”
