Virgil van Dijk is very satisfied with the 0-2 victory of the Dutch team against Poland in the Nations League. The captain of the Orange knows that Teun Koopmeiners is doing well and praises the invaders in particular.
“The invaders played an excellent role, but we generally played a good pot,” says Van Dijk in front of DecceITs camera. The defender enjoyed Cody Gakpos opening goal. “There was everything in there. Thats to enjoy. It was just a lovely evening for us. We played well against a difficult opponent.”
The Netherlands never really got into trouble in Warsaw, except for a short phase after rest. “In that phase, you know theyre going to put more pressure. They also brought Arek Milik. Then you have to keep playing football, make your gauges and switch sides. After that first phase after rest, we did much better. I think weve earned a win, a good performance.”
Van Dijk puts a few players in the spotlight. “Like I said, the guys who came in did a great job. Vincent (Janssen, ed.) held the balls in the front. Wout, too. I want to make a special shout-out to them. We need everyone. That is also important towards the World Cup.”
Finally, the captain had good news about Koopmeiners, who fell out very quickly after a collision. “Thats not nice, of course. What Ive heard is that things are going well now. That is the most important thing. Unfortunately, these kinds of things happen in football,” says Van Dijk.
Of course, Virgil van Dijk is happy with the zero. That everything is ok with Teun Koopmeiners is at least as good news. #POLNED pic.twitter.com/xLxCKqmere
