Van Engelshoven: Do not charge students for corona delay

Minister Van Engelshoven believes that students who have suffered a delay in studying due to the coronacrisis do not have to pay the bill themselves.

Yesterday, the House of Representatives asked the cabinet to give students the opportunity to study a year longer without losing extra tuition or tuition fees. Prime Minister Rutte said in the debate that there are no taboos, not even in a years study.

Today, the demissionary Minister of Education called it quite real that students who are delayed by corona are allowed to spend more time on their studies. She pointed out that provision had already been made for this.

Give peace

Van Engelshoven stressed that not all students really need an extra year. โ€œBut we need to be able to give students peace. Theyre under great pressure.โ€

What exactly a new scheme looks like will be elaborated in a National Plan for Educational Loversโ€ in the coming period.
