Michael van Gerwen drew in the fourteenth round of the Premier League darts against the English front runner Glen Durrant. In the Marshall Arena at Milton Keynes Van Gerwen lost a 7-5 lead and left two match darts in the final leg.
The Premier League is approaching its conclusion of the second phase. Friday- and Saturday-evening are the last two rounds of play and after those evenings the first four will compete in London in October for the final win.
Van Gerwen won the last four editions of the event and was also the strongest in 2013. In 2014 and 2015 he reached the finals, but lost to Raymond van Barneveld and Gary Anderson respectively.
On Thursday Van Gerwen suffered his biggest defeat ever in the Premier League in a painful way. He went down 1-8 against world champion Peter Wright.
Van Gerwen still has to pull out all the stops to get the last four. On Friday he will take on Gary Anderson in the fifteenth round.
