Van Ruijven’s condition remains worrying, new complications under control

Lara van Ruijven is still in critical condition in the hospital. The KNSB does report that new complications have occurred with the seriously ill shorttracker, but that the doctors who are now under control.

The world champion at 500 meters suffers from a disorder of the immune system. She has been in intensive care for nine days, where she is kept in an artificial coma.

Van Ruijven (27) was admitted to the hospital in Perpignan on 25 June with health complaints. With the short track selection she was at training camp in Font Romeu.

The KNSB also reports that the treatment is very complex, but that Van Ruijven has come through the last few days reasonably well.
