Velthuizen gets support after unsuccessful return: ‘All laugh, all screaming’

Fortuna Sittard trainer Sjors Ultee finds the laughable reactions to the failed return of Piet Velthuizen ‘very easily’. The 34-year-old goalkeeper held his first official game in three years last weekend and fell out with an injury after twenty minutes.

Ultee decided to put Velthuizen against FC Groningen, after he was confronted with hamstring complaints in the warm-up and got ‘hot spul’ smeared. Afterwards the trainer of Fortuna received ‘only questions about Piet’. โ€œAll laugh, all yelling, โ€œHow can you get such a goalkeeper? I find it easy,โ€ Ultee responds to Football International.
Velthuizen did not leave any significant damage to his failed return, but Fortuna is struggling with a goalkeeper problem due to the injury of Yanick van Osch and the upcoming departure of Alexei Koselev to Jubilo Iwata. Ultee: โ€œWe have three questions, we take stock in the course of the week. I am glad that this discussion is taking place now that we are ninth, and not at the bottom with three points.โ€
