Venin is in the tail: Cox and VAR deliver long-awaited victorious Fortuna

Fortuna Sittard has finally succeeded in its first round of FC Twente and has for the time being climbed above the relegation stripe. The home game against SC Cambuur seemed to be a 0-0, but George Cox decided otherwise deep in the second half: Mitchel Paulissen then seemed to help Cambuur to a run, but his injury time equalizer was frowned upon by the VAR.
Issa Kallon got the first chance on behalf of Cambuur after five minutes, but that was not the starting shot for an entertaining first half. Zian Flemming and Emil Hansson tried from a distance on behalf of Fortuna, but there was nothing more to experience in Limburg.
Immediately after halftime, the spectators suddenly heard the sound of the aluminium: Mees Hoedemakers came close to the 0-1, but hit the bar. Tom Boere also saw a hit being rejected and Mats Seuntjens met Sonny Stevens. After that rebound, the game went down again, but in the final phase it went completely loose.
After all, three minutes before the ban was broken: George Cox already set Fortuna on his way to a liberating 1-0 victory. That hit seemed to have little value at first: after entering the injury time, Paulissen signed for the equalizer after Roberts Uldrikis‘ heads. However, the VAR took offside and striped through the hit, forcing Cambuur to accept his long bus journey with zero points.
The PhD student will remain in the left row for the time being, while Fortuna makes a big jump in the ranking. Sjors Ultee’
s team kicked off as number seventeen of the Premier League, but climbed to fourteenth place.
