Gertjan Verbeek thinks he would be a good successor to John Stegeman at PEC Zwolle. The trainer, who is currently active as an analyst, emerged in several polls as the dream candidate of the PEC supporters.
In three different polls Verbeek came out as a favourite to succeed Stegeman in Zwolle. What does that say? โThat a large number of people think I am suitable as a trainer of PECโ, Verbeek starts talking with the Algemeen Dagblad. โAnd thats nice, of course.โ
โPEC can call meโ, continues Verbeek. โI am now an analyst at ESPN, but I have no contractual obligations there. I will certainly have a conversation. Otherwise, of course, you never know if it can be a match. And not only that: they call, of course, not for nothing. Then youve thought about it. Well, then Im curious as to what their motives are.โ
Verbeek thinks hed fit well with PEC. โWhat I read is that theyre not looking for clubhopper, theyre looking for someone for the longer term. Well, that appeals to me. Because then you can put something down, too. Thats how I did it with Heracles, Heerenveen and Bochum. Those are clubs Ive been to for a long time, and they havent gotten any worse. So that building, what they talk about at PEC, is written to me,โ he concludes.
