VI and AD: Feyenoord wants to shop cheaply at PhD student Excelsior

Excelsior threatens to lose one of the trendsetters. Highlight Mats Wieffer is in the interest of Feyenoord, report Voetbal International and the Algemeen Dagblad on Wednesday evening.
It is not inconceivable that the transfer will be completed in the short term. Wieffer still has a contract with Excelsior until 2023 and so the club will require a modest transfer fee, but that does not seem like an insurmountable problem. If Feyenoord and Excelsior reach an agreement, Wieffer will report in Rotterdam on Monday for the first training session of the season.
Excelsior technical director Nick Kersten recently told Football Primeur that it could just get rid of last seasons tastemakers. โ€œWe want to go on with all the boys, including Dallinga and Wieffer, but the reality is that they have done very well and are very interested in that. Ultimately, Excelsior is a club that has to give players opportunities and develop. I think Dallinga can still play one or two levels higher than Excelsior. If they can take a step up, we should not close our eyes to that. There is a lot of interest for those guys, so the opportunity is definitely there.โ€

Feyenoord hopes to strengthen itself in the short term with Mats Wieffer from Excelsior.
