The first Vietnam Grand Prix in Formula One will not take place in 2021.
According to the BBC, the race in capital Hanoi is not going on due to local problems. The race in Vietnam was initially postponed this season and then cancelled due to the coronapandemic.
Sources have reported to news agency Reuters that the race is missing on the F1 calendar of 2021, and the race calendar will be announced on Tuesday. A spokesman for the F1 did not want to go into details about the calendar, which also has to be approved by a committee of the International Motorsport Federation FIA.
According to the BBC, there is no race in Vietnam after the chairman of the Hanoi Peoples Committee, Nguyen Duc Chung, was arrested on suspicion of appropriating state secrets in August. Chung was closely involved in the organization of the F1 race in Hanoi.
Previously, it had already been leaked that the Formula 1 season is likely to consist of 23 races. Several circuits would be interested in taking the place of Vietnam.
