A large forest fire almost destroyed a village in Canada. It‘s one of the most devastating fires ever, Canadian journalists say.
About a thousand people lived in the village. They heard on Wednesday that they had to leave the village quickly because a forest fire was coming. Most people did that. Some people are still missing. It’s not clear if they stayed in the village.
The village was in the news last week because it was incredibly warm. So hot that Canada‘s temperature record was broken three consecutive days. Sunday it was 46.1 degrees, Monday 47.9 degrees and even 49.6 degrees Tuesday.
A day later, a natural fire was raging through the village. It’s probably due to the heat.
