Vitesse as the first club in the final of KNVB Cup

Vitesse is the first club for the final of the KNVB Cup. In his own Gelredome, the sub-topper from the Eredivisie turned out to be too strong for VVV-Venlo, the number 15 in the ranking in a disappointing match with 2-0.

Vitesse and VVV-Venlo started the cup duel Tuesday evening with the same base players as three days earlier. The Arnhemmers won in the Eredivisie with 4-1 in Arnhem.

In the first half VVV let itself fall back. Vitesse was clearly stronger, but there were no real opportunities. Just after rest, there was a serious opportunity. A shot from Tourist Board Giorgos Giakoumakis, top scorer of the Eredivisie, just went right next.

In the 75 minutes it was finally hit. Chelsea mercenary Armando Broja headed a nice hit after a perfect advance of Oussama Tannane. The same Tannane decided seven minutes before the game with a great shot in the top corner from the edge of the penalty area: 2-0.

Sc Heerenveen or Ajax will be the opponent of Vitesse in the final on Sunday 18 April. Those two clubs meet on Wednesday night in the other half final battle.

Vitesse won the cup once, in 2017.
