Vitesse at home not along SC Heerenveen

After the slip against PEC Zwolle last week, Vitesse tried to pick up the thread again in the home game against SC Heerenveen. That succeeded in playing, but not in terms of the result. The team of trainer Thomas Letsch put a great game on the mat, but remained stuck at 1-1. Vitesse will continue to second with a gap of four points on the lead runner Ajax. Later today, PSV and Feyenoord can go over Vitesse on goal balance.

In the run-up to the duel with the Frisians, Letsch was once again faced with a disappointment. Armando Broja turned out to be unusable due to a positive corontest. The Englishman with Albanian roots is the ninth Vitesse player who tests positive on corona this season, while eight staff members were already in force. Because the positive tests occurred drop by drop, Vitesse did not experience excessive discomfort.

Oussama Darfalou remained in the team, while compared to the defeat against PEC Zwolle both Loรฏs Openda and Sondre Tronstad returned to the base. Letsch had made an attempt to rotate last week by leaving Openda and Tronstad on the bench, but that didnt work out well. After the red card for Edrissa Tourรฉ, the Vitesse structure collapsed.

The suspended Tourรฉ, which received Dasa last week, was replaced by Million Manhoef, the youthful left-back, which this time had to cover the right flank. Dasa is still usable after his positive corontest last week.

After the offday in Zwolle against SC Heerenveen, Vitesse

itself from a very different side. The Arnhemmers played very compelling from the first minute and put the Frisians under heavy pressure. SC Heerenveen was not at all at all and leaned on the defense. Vitesse dominated almost entirely in the first half with a leading role for the outstanding Riechedly Bazoer, but did not create many opportunities. The deserved lead came just before rest, when Darfalou made the 1-0 up close. Another fourth season hit by the Algerian striker, who signed for the opening goal in three cases.

There seemed to be no dirt on the air for Vitesse, but after the rest the competition picture was suddenly very different. SC Heerenveen crawled out of the shell and suddenly showed that it was able to attack. Prompt it yielded the equalizer. Vitesse-goalkeeper Remko Pasveer saved well on a shot by Benjamin Nygren and the first rebound by Sherel Floranus, but was without a chance when the rightback of Heerenveen immediately attacked the target (1-1).

SC Heerenveens sudden resurrection was reminiscent of last week, when the team of trainer Johnny Jansen had nothing to do with PSV for rest, but in the second half formed itself and eventually dragged a 2-2 draw out of the fire.

After the equalizer of Heerenveen, a parallel duel developed in the Gelredome with opportunities over and over again. Letsch tried to force something with the introduction of Daan Huisman and Hilary Gong, but where Letsch had a happy hand of changing earlier this season, Vitesse did not manage to win the victory. With this, Vitesse once again leaves expensive points and where last weeks defeat against PEC Zwolle had nothing to be done, the seasonal surprise now completely unnecessarily lost two points.
