Vitesse marbles Willem II out of the cup, Go Ahead Eagles surprised Cambuur

Vitesse was the last to reach the eighth finals of the KNVB Cup tournament. The Arnhemmers were in Tilburg with 2-0 too strong for the wandering Willem II.

The Tilburgers, with basic debutant Wesley Spieringhs, are currently sixteenth in the top division and hoped for a boost against Vitesse.

There was no such thing, because the visitors were simply too strong. After twenty minutes, Million Manhoef opened the score at Oussama Darfalou.


Vitesse got chances for more, but jumped sloppy with the possibilities. Only Thomas Buitink managed to reach a goal after rest, after an assist by Oussama Tannane.

Willem II was spared further suffering and can focus on the competition, in which it will visit AZ on Sunday. Vitesse then receives Feyenoord.

Camneighbor disabled

Go Ahead Eagles placed earlier in the evening at the expense of SC Cambuur for the last sixteen. The Deventeners triumphant with 2-1 in Leeuwarden.

Based on the ranking in the first division a surprise, because Cambuur is currently a leader, while Go Ahead Eagles can be found in place eight.

The home team was still ahead of Ragnar Oratmangoen in the first half, but Luuk Brouwers pulled the stand again a little later.

After more than an hour of playing Bradley van Hoeven let the visitors from Deventer cheer again. Cambuur turned on afterwards, but that did not lead to success. In the final phase, Go Ahead goalie Jay Gorter Issa Kallon held off scoring.
