‘Vitesse reunites Cocu with a permanent right-hand man and has bad news for Kuyt’

Chris van der Weerden becomes assistant trainer at Vitesse, reports De Gelderlander. The former PSV player is still playing that role at ADO Den Haag, where he assists Dirk Kuyt.
It sounds like the transfer should take shape soon. When ADO has secured a successor for Van der Weerden and has reached an agreement with Vitesse, he will join the coaching staff led by Phillip Cocu. It is said that Cocu would like Van der Weerden to be his right hand. In the past, the pair have worked together at PSV, Fenerbahce and Derby County. In Arnhem, the duo must be reunited.
Cocu started his training job at Vitesse last Tuesday. Marink Reedijk is already an assistant trainer there, but a second assistant had to be added. Edwin Zoetebier is also a member of the trainers guild. He holds the position of goalkeeper trainer.
The 49-year-old Van der Weerden has been a football player since 2008. He started at NEC, after which he joined PSV via Vitesse. In 2013, he started his training career at PSV. In Eindhoven, he was Ernest Fabers right-hand man for five duels. His job at ADO is his first real trainer job without Cocu.
