Vitesse takes rematch month after Giakoumaki explosion: again 4-1

Vitesse can watch AZ-Feyenoord in the armchair on Sunday. The Arnhemmers finally managed to win again against VVV-Venlo and settled in place four, between AZ and Feyenoord: Eredivisie-top scorer Giorgos Giakoumakis added another goal to his total, but could not mean anything for the guests from North Limburg.

The same Giakoumakis had launched a mediocre series by Vitesse at the end of January: the Arnhemmers seemed to be able to take part in the title, but lost — thanks to a four-player from the Greek — 4-1 in De Koel and then failed to win five competition duels in a row. The Eredivisie top scorer soon struck again in Arnhem. Loïs Openda had signed the 1-0 after three minutes via the bar, but not long after that it became 1-1 via the Greek: Riechedly Bazoer caused a penalty and Giakoumakis made his 23rd of the season from the dot.
Vitesse struggled to regain his rhythm and Giakoumakis was given a great opportunity at a moment of rest. In the second half the dime still stood out the side of the Arnhemmers. Bazoer made up for his first half mistake and signed for the handsome 2-1: the free defender steamed up, combined with Oussama Tannane, got the ball with luck, penetrated the sixteen meters and left Thorsten Kirschbaum without a chance.
VVV could only oppose a outage of Giakoumakis: however, the Greek came across Remko Pasveer and was whistled back because of offside play. Fifteen minutes before the final decision was taken: Sondre Tronstad tried it from a distance and made the 3-1 with a changed shot. Vitesse still wanted it during the final phase: Armando Broja made it after a fine one-two with Matus Bero 4-1. In addition, Tannane had the fifth on his shoe, but hit the bar. As a result, it remained at the stand that was on the scoreboard exactly one month ago in Venlo: 4-1, this time in favour of Vitesse.
Vitesse stays in the race for European football: the Arnhemmers are in fourth place, with ten more matches to go. In addition, they have an extra iron in the fire with the KNVB Cup: Tuesday VVV will return to Arnhem, where they will fight for a place in the final.

Clear figures in Arnhem: 4ï¸âƒ£-1ï¸â£. Not a nice general for VVV… Tuesday @mijnvitesse and @vvvvenlo are facing each other again, then in the semi-final of the KNVB cup! #ï ¸âƒ£ #vitvvv pic.twitter.com/VPBageoc4k
