Vitesse has finished the first Conference League game in the clubs history. Visiting NS Mura, trainer Thomas Letschs team was 0-2 too strong for the Slovenian opponent. Sondre Tronstad and Danilho Doekhi took care of the goals.
Vitesse never got into trouble with Mura, who couldnt hit the target once in more than 90 minutes of play. As the first half progressed, the Arnhemmers grew stronger and that resulted in the lead after thirty minutes of play. Tronstad initially shot the ball against a defender, but through the back of teammate Matús Bero he was allowed to try it again. This time he found the net: 0-1.
Vitesse was threatening to Muras purpose several times, but it lacked the real sharpness. The team tried to make a difference right after half time, but the second goal was awaiting. Oussama Tannane tried it from a distance, but his mirror ended on the top of the bar.
Halfway through the second half, Vitesse decided the game. Danilho Doekhi towered above everything and everyone and headlined a corner of Maximilian Wittek behind Mura goalkeeper Matko Obradovic. Vitesse was given plenty of opportunities in the remainder of the match to further expand the score, but made the wrong choice towards the Slovenian opponents goal.
Due to the 0-2 victory, Vitesse holds the leading position in Group G of the Conference League. Stade Rennes and Tottenham Hotspur played their first match 2-2.
