Wake-up service 29/8: Start Tour de France and corona protests in Berlin

Good morning! Today the Tour de France starts in Nice and demonstrators in Berlin take to the streets against the coronamaatregelen.

What can you expect today?

The 107th edition of the Tour de France will start in Nice. Le Grand Dรฉpart can be seen from 13.10 via NPO 1, the CCeit app and CCeit.nl and can be followed via Radio Tour de France on NPO Radio 1. These channels will follow all stages until 20 September. Read more here. In Berlin, people take to the streets to protest against the corona-measures of the German government. The city council had previously forbidden the demonstration, but the judge gave permission yesterday. At 2 p.m. the victims who died in the Second World War during the construction of the Burma-Siam railway, between present-day Myanmar and Thailand, and the Pakan Baru line on Sumatra are commemorated. The American actor Chadwick Boseman died of intestinal cancer. Among other things, he was known for his role as the superhero Black Panther in Marvel’s successful comic series. Two years ago that character got his own film, which won three Oscars.
