‘Wants to leave Ajax since February’

Antony has given his side of the story regarding the transfer soap between Ajax and Manchester United in an exclusive interview with Fabrizio Romano. The Brazilian already announced that Ajax wanted to leave in February, but the Amsterdam club did not like that.
In conversation with Romano, Antony does not mince words. โ€œMy agents came to Amsterdam in February to inform Ajax about my wish to leave and find a new challenge. We knew that there would be interested clubs, and therefore also interesting offers for Ajax. In June I came back from my vacation earlier to inform Ajax that I wanted to leave, and that they had to consider this option because my project at Ajax would initially last two seasons.โ€
Antony has been thinking about leaving for months and makes that clear in the interview. โ€œDuring the transfer period, we continued to meet with Ajax and I received multiple offers to renew my contract. I made it clear that I wanted to leave. Today (Friday, ed.) I said the same thing to the club, but this time there is also a substantial bid at the club. Ajax refuses to cooperate and gives the argument that they only have five days to replace me.โ€
According to the Brazilian, it is wise if Ajax allows the sale to continue. โ€œI dont ask Ajax to let me go just like that, I ask Ajax to sell me as the most expensive Eredivisie player of all time. I have already raised this since February, so that Ajax had time to forge the team again. I was very happy in Amsterdam, won prizes, made friends, but now its really time for me to pursue my dreams,โ€ Antony concludes.
