Jan van Halst sees an important ‘pitfall‘ for Wout Weghorst. The former midfielder sees that Weghorst sometimes wants too much, at the expense of the quality of his game.
At the halftime of the derby between Besiktas and Fenerbahçe, Van Halst talks about Weghorst. The Dutch striker was very present in the game, but Van Halst sees that he sometimes does “overacting”. “That‘s his pitfall,” the native Utrechter starts in the Ziggo Sport studio. “As a result, he sometimes loses the overview. He then plays in a hurry and starts to grumble a bit.”
“It’s too much then: too fast, too tense,” Van Halst continues. “I sometimes have the idea with him: when he is a little calmer in his head, he walks just a meter longer wide so that he is not sidelined. He did prove at AZ that he has a real overview and in Germany too.”
This season, Weghorst is playing on rent at Besiktas, which also has an option to buy. So far, the Dutch international has been a fixture among the Turkish superpower. Weghorst can also provide excellent figures in Turkey: three goals and four assists in seven duels (the game with Fenerbahçe is not included).
