โ€œWhen you see how our Ajax talents are being drawn… Good that they stay.

Several great talents have left Ajax recently, but according to Edmond Claus, this is not necessarily due to the Amsterdammers. The senior technical coordinator of the Ajax youth also sees that many talents choose to stay with the club.
Julian Rijkhoff and Prince Aning are the latest examples of Ajax talents who left young for another major club. In the past, players like Donyell Malen, Ki-Jana Hoever, Javairรด Dilrosun and Daishawn Redan chose the same route. In the podcast Branie, Claus talks about the subject. โ€œIts a nice compliment, though, that your players are in the picture at other top clubs. Its utopia to think that you can always keep all players inboard and satisfy them.โ€
โ€œWe also think that we can offer every player fantastic facilities and a good education. But if a player chooses another club, for whatever reason, thats up to the player,โ€ Claus continues. โ€œDo we have to do things very differently than what we do? I dont think so. But that does not mean that we also always look in the mirror. Internally, however, we dont feel like we could have done more anywhere, or that we had to do things differently.โ€
Claus does admit that Ajax is disappointed when players like Rijkhoff and Aning leave. โ€œThese are certainly players who have the potential to play professional football at a high level. There is no doubt about that. It was great if they were still playing soccer with us, but the situation is different. You should also look at the number of top talents that we do bind to us. We can be very proud of that, because when you see how our talents are being attracted internationally and what clubs have in store for… It
s actually really cool that its like it is now.โ€
