The Orange Lionesses took place in England on Friday night for the European Championships of 2022, but Sarina Wiegman will no longer stand for the group during the final tournament. It gives a double feeling, says the federal coach.
“Yeah, thats pretty crazy. I am very happy now, but in the end I will not be there”, says Wiegman in conversation with DeccEit. After the Olympic Games next year, she says goodbye as coach of Orange to work with the women of England. “But yes, thats not for a year and a half. This contest has been won. Eight played, 24 points. That is very good.”
Wiegman saw that her team was still looking for hits in the final phase of the match, against a very moderate Estonia. “The team has shown what we want. And that was also in the 90th minute, when we were still hungry to make an eighth goal. It wasnt a very good opponent, but in the end you have to do it yourself”, concludes Wiegman.
