Wiegman takes first step towards European Championships Dream with England against Austria

Sarina Wiegman has won her first European Championship match with the women of England. At Old Trafford, Austria was defeated by a fairly early goal by Arsenal player Beth Mead.
England is the host country of the women‘s European Championships. Partly because of this, Wiegman’s team is one of the big favorites for the tournament win. In any case, the English started the European Championships well. Mead was able to make the first hit of the tournament after just over fifteen minutes of play. The attacker‘s goal was nice, although the VAR was also watching along.
After the 1-0, England remained the parent party. The home team still got enough chances to double the score, but that didn’
t happen: 1-0 also became the final result. Due to the profit, England is of course leading in Group A of the European Championships. Norway and Northern Ireland, the other teams in the pool, play against each other on Thursday. For the Orange Lionesses, the first European Championship match awaits Saturday, against Sweden.
