Wijnaldum honest: ‘There are things I think differently than Van Gaal’

Georginio Wijnaldum didnt think about the Dutch national team at all when transferring to AS Roma. The 31-year-old midfielder has also not spoken to Louis van Gaal about his move. Wijnaldum does make it clear that he and the national coach have a different opinion on certain matters.
After disappointing year at Paris Saint-Germain, Wijnaldum left for AS Roma. In the last international periods, the born Rotterdammer was no longer summoned for the Orange either. Nevertheless, that did not play a role in his transfer. I have to say honestly: with my choice of Roma, I didn
t think about the Dutch national team at all, says Wijnaldum at DecceIt. I just want to play and be happy. Roma wanted to and they tried so hard that you just feel appreciated.
There has also been no discussion between Van Gaal and Wijnaldum about the Roma move. I had no contact with Van Gaal at all. Am I hurt because I wasnt selected? Actually, I dont really want to make any statements about that. If Im concerned with something, I have to discuss it with Van Gaal first. Then you can take it outside. I dont like saying things he hasnt heard yet.
The last international matches were not my best matches, Wijnaldum continues. If you don
t play well and get switched, dont complain. But there are things I think about differently than he does. I have yet to discuss that with the trainer, if he called me back. He can then say what he doesnt like so much and I can say what I dont like.
