During an incident involving a car during a training camp in Italy, a group of Bora-Hansgrohe riders were injured on Saturday, including Wilco Kelderman. The team confirmed that Saturday night.
The 29-year-old Dutchman, the number three of the past Giro d‘Italia, had to be taken to the hospital together with Rüdiger Selig and Andreas Schillinger. There he appeared, like Selig, to have suffered a concussion. Schillinger’s still waiting for the results of his check.
The accident took place at the end of the day. The Dutchman Ide Schelling (22) was not hungry in an extra half hour on the bike to close and chewed off earlier. He got away well that way.
Kelderman is new to Bora-Hansgrohe, the team of leader Peter Sagan. This winter he came across from Team Sunweb, which has now been renamed Team DSM.
Last year Kelderman seemed to finally get rid of the evil devil who haunted him for the season with his stage in the Giro. Partly due to falls and injuries, he was able to participate less than he wished for the prizes in recent years.
