RB Leipzig stands second after sixteen duels, with a backlog of a point on the front runner Bayern Munich: 33 at 32. The South Germans can increase the gap to four points on Sunday with a victory over Freiburg.
Wolfsburg occupies the sixth place with a total of 26 points. Fifth place, which entitles Europe League football, is occupied by Union Berlin, which has two points more than Die Wölve.
Borussia Dortmund had started the year well with two victories, but at home against the fence closer FSV Mainz the team of coach Edin Terzic remained stuck at 1-1.
More than fifteen minutes before time, the Belgian Thomas Meunier equalized. Marco Reus should have helped Dortmund win, but the captain missed a penalty in the 76th minute.
Dortmund stands fourth on 4 points of Bayern, Wolfsburg is the number 6 of the Bundesliga.
