Bale (31) moved from London to Madrid for about 100 million euros in 2013. The Welshman, who had played at the Spurs for six years, was for a while the most expensive football player in the world. With the ‘Royal’, the attacker won two titles and four Champions League titles (2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018). Bale was confident in the 2014 finals (against Atlético) and 2018, when he scored two goals against Liverpool as a substitute.
Bale has been on the side of injuries in recent years. Despite all the prizes won and over a hundred goals for Real, the fans never really embraced him. Bale saw a transfer back to China last year. Trainer Zinedine Zidane left him on the couch last season, in which Real took the Spanish title. It‘s a public secret that the Madrians would like to get rid of Bale. The wing spire is under contract in the Spanish capital for two more years.
José Mourinho, as manager of the Spurs, now hopes to attract Bale, something he did not succeed at Real Madrid before. “The chairman followed my knowledge and instinct, because shortly after I left, he brought Gareth to the club. That’s no secret, Gareth knows that too,” said Portuguese Wednesday. When Bale returns, he becomes team mate of Oranje-International Steven Bergwijn with the Spurs.
