After FC Barcelona‘s victory over Elche, Xavi praises two youngsters. The trainer thoroughly enjoyed the performances of Álex Balde and Pedri.
The Spanish media also praised Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay, but in addition to Robert Lewandowski, Pedri also took the lead role again. “He’s an out of category player. He understands the game and can make a difference with his passes. He never loses the ball and is also decisive,” Xavi sums up afterwards. “He‘s one of the best players who played here. He is a certainty.” The nineteen-year-old playmaker had, among other things, a pass purity of 96 percent against Elche. “We have to take care of him,” says Xavi. “He’s great.”
The Barça coach is also impressed by Balde. The left back assisted the first two goals. “It never ceases to amaze me that an eighteen-year-old plays so well. We are going to have fun with him. Physically, he is incredibly strong. Baldé is a fantastic left-back. With Jordi Alba, Marcos Alonso, and Baldé, we have three good left backs. Baldé created several opportunities today.”
