Xavi plans to give Riqui Puig opportunities this season. However, the midfielder, who was completely unfeatured in the plans of former FC Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman, must ‘show a little more daring’.
Xavi compares Puig to the talents Nico González and Gavi broke this season. “He has an innate talent and must be important to the team as Gavi and Nico are now,” says Xavi at the press conference for this weekend‘s game against Villarreal. “He must dare more, shoot more.”
Xavi is fully confident that Puig will still live up to his potential. “He is one of the team and we count on him just like all other players. Everyone gets their chance, we play in multiple competitions. He has the talent to attack the opponent’s penalty area and is able to give the final pass,” Xavi concludes.
