Head of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio Daisuke Sato said that he would like to release Yakuza Ishin in the West, but the game will have to be recycled – it is too old for simple porting to modern platforms. Therefore, the decision to release it is quite difficult. Ishin is a spin-off where familiar images from Yakuza turned out to be in the samurai era of the Bakumatsu period (1853-1867).
There they are drawn into a coup d‘état, and they find themselves outside the law. Why Ishin can’t just be localized and released is unknown.
Recently, SEGA has released direct ports Yakuza 3, 4 and 5 without problems — although they are much older than Ishin. The third part was released in 2009, while Ishin appeared in 2014.
Also Sato told that no separate game about Majima, despite the popularity of the hero, are not yet planned to do. He was given to play Yakuza 0, and if the studio takes up something like Yakuza 0-2, he will also appear in the role of protagonist there.
