NIS America released a role-playing action movie Ys IX: Monstrum Nox on PlayStation 4. And the game received quite good ratings: the average score on Metacritic – 80. Reviewers note that the next part of the well-known series quite meets all expectations: Ys IX: Monstrum Nox – typical Japanese role-playing game with somewhat outdated technology, but addictive gameplay.
However, the balance between the gameplay and the plot in it is inferior to the previous part, Lacrimosa of Dana. Unfortunately, Monstrum Nox is not as whole as its predecessors, and mostly it is due to the game world.
In Ys VIII, Seyren Island was vast and diverse, delighting in an unforgettable combination of unspoilt paradise nature, sinister ruins and unknown danger. The city of Balduk is depressingly boring and despondent.
Gray streets and gray buildings against a still gray sky clearly wanted to convey an oppressive Gothic atmosphere, but also spoiled by dull visual effects. Push Squareinstead of squeezing everything juices from any element, Ys IX deftly balances battles, exploration and puzzle solving.
And in combination with the masterful design of levels, some dungeons turn out to be so layered and full of surprises that this is not even expected from the game series Ys. Digitally DownloadedOn Nintendo Switch and RS Ys IX: Monstrum Nox will appear in the summer.
